team colors

i would like some feedback on which of the team colors that i am using for this conversion at the moment you like and which ones you do not like. tell me what you think i should get rid of, and suggest to me colors you would like to see as team colors in this conversion, orange, yellow, etc.

i would like feedback and suggestions because i want this mod to be as best as it can be for the people who will be playing it as well as for myself.

Dump the A.C. Light Purple,Red,Blue and anything un-natural. C'mon.make this a game of skill,where soildes and tanks (somewhat) blend in,and sneaking soilders around can be done on the albeit,bare,and bland RA1 Terrain.

thats what i was kinda thinking. i was thinking of making all of the team colors like natural type colors. i was even thinking of making one team color just entirely black so that all units looks like shadows and stuff. i thought that would be quite interesting and cool.

but i want some more input of what other people think before the final team colors are decided upon.

although i prettymuch have my heart set on the first 4, tan, white, dark gray, and dark green. i don't think those are going to get scrapped. i really like those team colors a lot.

I dont like army camo - its sorta too 'light', darkgreen is good thou... Oh, and blue, red and light purple are bad imo. Althou red could be but only if it was a dark red and without orange shades.

Whoah! I've never seen that A.C. Colour, what is it in the ini?

about half or more than half of those colors have never been seen before.

it is not in the ini file. you have to edit the pallette to change the team colors.

jah - i might make a dark red and see how it looks. that might be a good color when playing as the brotherhood/black hand.

any other team color suggestions?

i am thinking of doing a brown/mud color, black, dark red, and maybe another shade of gray or something.

but would too many shades of gray get confusing?

we'll see.

i'll post picks of new team colors soon after i mess with the pallette.

i could try it. but it is hard, since you can only use the colors which are already in the RA pallete. you cannot add any new colors or change the colors to something that isn't in the pallete. so you have little to work with. but i will make some more team colors and see how they look soon.

Hm..you could presumably keep A.C,only make diffrent versions(eg:MutatedCamo,Urban Camo,Jungle Camo,Ect. 2 versions of each,so people in 1v1 combat can have camoflage,and blend in with the terrain...

To acheive this use same indexes but different colors in temperate, snow and interior palettes. But I'm sure that Kevin already knows this.

these are a couple experiments i made today with team colors.

i will post some more experiments later. let me know what you think of these. and let me know of what teamcolors you would like to see in the conversion.

Yea it is... the only problem is that the light and dark blue are too similar... this may confuse players, doesn't it?

The blood red and jet black are very nice.
The maroon is too similar to the black though.

Wicked!!

White, Blood Red look very good, and Navy, even though I dont like blue. I always wanted a black color in RA1, but it looks kinda odd. Also a dark military green,same shade as the Navy, would be nice.

yeah, just to let everyone know, not all of these colors are going to be in the conversion. i am experimenting with new team colors and then showing all of you the results.

it will be up to all of YOU to VOTE and decide which 8 colors will be the final team colors for the conversion.

i have some more experimenting to do. and i will post the results.

everyone seems to like the blood red. so i think it's gonna make the cut. Wink

also, the gdi yellowish/tan will remain, and i have my heart set on white and dark gray already. so everything else will be up to all of you to decide.

Raven! and TG v2.0 Now Thats the green! Temprate Camo, would be annoying to fight against. How does white look on a snow maps? I think should make a ubermutated theater, instead of a snow one.

Orange, and zombie flesh are orignal colors? Orange doesnt bother me, ZF, eh I hated that green color and that Tealcrap in RA1 lol. but thinking about a nice richer purple wouldnt hurt, not that one, but a deep bloodgrape color.

Heres my list so far.
Tan=easier to see, easier to kill. Wink

White=brings back the TD silver color
DarkGrey=Brotherhood team color.
Raven=Blackhand
Blood Red=Kane's Guard.
TGV2.0=Mutant division
Navy=...it looks cool..
TCamo=ugly but effective.

colors that have to be in the mod: Red (nod), tib. Green v 2 (mutants), raven (because its' awesome), dark blue (cabal), tan (gold, gdi), orange, purple.

Tan
White
Blood Red
Zombie Flesh
Dark Green
Olive
Revan
Dark Blue

I'm assuming eight colours is maximum in this (I can't remember any more, old age #Tongue

).

ayway, about these colors:

1. Dark green:
Now don't you go pretending you made that, lol. It was already on the original team color mod Wink

Definitely one of my favourites.

2. blood red
Nice. Just.. very nice red.

3. tib green 1
I like this one more than tib green 2... but that's probably just because it's closer to the C&C1 green ^.^

4. Raven
Improved version of both dark Grey and black, I suppose? Really good.

5. Orange
Wewt. That's a nice remake of the TD multiplayer color Smile

6. White
It's simple, but I really like this one... but how does it look on units?

7. olive
Reminds me of the unused Mercenary side in dune II. And it really looks good on tanks.

8. Zombie flesh
ooh.. just nice Smile

The 'blue' reminds me of the hidden bright blue in RA... if you edit redalert.ini, go to the [MultiPlayer] part and put the Color option to Color=10 you get a slightly brighter version of this color. The fun thing about this is of course that it can be used in normal unmodded RA, and other people in MP see it too #Tongue
