A question about GLA technical logic
Subject description: I think I have read it somewhere ?
I have question with regards a logic used in CnC generals for technicals, was their a logic that was implemented for ARES that allows you to build different visual variants of the same unit type just like the technicals from CnC generals ?
I think I have read it some where in ARES docs but I cannot seem to find it, can some help me with this please ? thank you QUICK_EDIT
Yeah I would love to have such a feature too, having different numbers/marking on tanks & planes would add some nice little eye candy
AFAIK the code for unit art is a bit stringent, I'd imagine it might be easier to make the game randomly pick a whole unit from a list rather then just switching the art. _________________
I will make this by using "Covert WH" logic of Phobos ,soon when it is stable. DestoyAnimToUnit,Stationary units, can fire at specific houses will help a lot. , it is complex to explain it perfectly, also there will be some bugs maybe, I will try to make it similar to GenZH as much as it can be...
1. DestoyAnimToUnit =The stationary scrap crate unit,
2.) This unit will have a weapon that very short range (0,25 even possible,suicidal )
3.)When Convert WH explodes, your unit turn to ConvertTo= by Phobos via that WH.

Convert logic is not the right way to go for this stuff, it would break waypoint pathing out of factory and if done after the unit comes out it just looks bad.
DPs GiftBox logic which is WIP in Phobos works for creating random Technicals and works with waypoints. The unit is replaced straight away so there's no glitchy transition such as converting a unit.
You can even make infantry squads with it (as in multiple infantry will leave barracks at once).
There is a test build available just search the nightly builds for "GiftBox" _________________

As "XxpeddyxX" said, and I mentioned before, it can break something and can be very buggy. I was telling my ideas only, I accept that it can be wrong. That can only work via delivery sw or paradrop. You drop TECH1,TECH2,TECH3 and each of them has same GroupAs=TECH so when you select one bz group select, all three variant will be selected just as they are same units! But again, only via SW, you cannot build it. _________________
