Unofficial Bots Report, and a Security Sys. Suggestions
Subject description: This one topic, is meant for keeping out bots, by improving security
Seriously, this could one day get out of hand! I don't even know why people would do this...
Block their IPs or something, if it's possible...
Damn, I'm the only one awake watching these forums while everyone is gone
We should really put up a new, much more secure, registration process, sending a 4-digit confirmation code to the person's email, create a temporary (will be deleted after 2 days, and cannot reply, post, edit their profile, or even send private messages to anyone) then having to type it into their profile, adding a tag called 'Confirmation Code' into a regular ui of a registered person's profile, but can't edit anything. And there would be a reminder at the bottom if they still haven't typed their Confirmation Code, the reminder could say 'This Account shall be terminated after 2 days, type your confirmation code to complete the registration process', or whatever Banshee wants.
And once the Confirmation Code has been typed, a Private Message shall be awaiting them, with a brief intro to the forums and links to the rules and regulations...
I've seen registration processes like that in other websites, and they haven't had a bot that got through their registration process...
Hopefully a new and much more secure registration system shall be implemented soon... QUICK_EDIT

I'm not sure if we need to make the registration process become a torture of that kind. I think we would loose real (and interested) users if we follow your process, specially those who may not be native english speakers.
However, the idea of having a custom registering process, unexpected to bots, is a good idea. I'll think about something that could still be easy, but not something expected by these bots.
Bear in mind that some bots only start to post few days, weeks, months or even years after they register. I've also seen certain humans who only register to do these bots advertisements (although in the vast majority of the times the bots are just softwares doing automated stuff). QUICK_EDIT

Then, why not perma-ban the bots? I see no reason for bots to be in this place, aside from the PPM News Bot, but why keep them? _________________ all my posts before 2020 were made by a 13 year-old, forgive these if you see any, thank you QUICK_EDIT
bots are permanently banned when they appear.
But there appear new ones too and as Banshee mentioned, there might be several inactive still hidden in the already registered users list.
Feel free to go through the 8536 users and sort the bots out that have been hiding there for a long time. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings

Why don't we start with the spambot that posted today, and the one last month... _________________ all my posts before 2020 were made by a 13 year-old, forgive these if you see any, thank you QUICK_EDIT
What do you mean? They are banned already and won't post again.
I don't get why you complain about this, when you might have noticed spambot posts for only 1 hour until mods and admin got rid of them.
Just ignore them. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings

Just to confirm: we do permanently ban from our forums all spamming bots and wipe all their posts as soon as we see them. But bot accounts just get being created again and again and again. QUICK_EDIT
