Regulus' House of Cards
Subject description: Experimental graphics for Tiberian Sun
I fig'er'd er' one was makin' them there private mod threads, and I know I got un' in her' already, but this one is for some of the more lulzy things I come up with that I have no interest in perusing.
First on the chopping block: The age old battle between GDI radar with upgrade plugs vs the upgrade center! Duh duh dunnnn!!! FIGHT!
BUT WAIT, a new challenger approaches!
BEHOLD THE GDI RADAR UPGRADE CENTER. WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW?!
The ultimate in copy paste jobs (as in the worst ever) I have no real interest in making this building in releasable form, but it is quite easy to do. Perhaps someone would take up the torch?

It always irked me that the shp only shown a segment of its actual length. I have sort of piecemealed a second segment of the vehicle using photoshop.
It is a 1x2 instead of a 1x3. Other than that, it uses the exact same code as the original segment presented. Feel free to use this SHP however you wish.
With scripts you could script it to explode when the other segment does, but unfortunately there is no other way to link the two together to make it be considered one vehicle (building technically.)
I'll move this to the SHP forum, but you can grab it here as well.
Here is a little experiment I did to somewhat alter the SAM site from a huge swath of caution stripe to a subtle set of stripes around the edge. It doesn't make a huge difference in the end but I am not going to scrap it just because it didn't work out.
Much better indeed. Are you sure the thing at the top is supposed to be a fan? It always looked like a stationary observation dome to me. _________________
Not sure. My first thought was that it was a silo iris. But that's silly. I suppose it could be an observation dome, but it has some wonky windows. _________________ You come for the modding but you stay for the Crap Forum. QUICK_EDIT
The twist was to prevent it from looking like a russian onion dome. They come twisted and not. If you add smaller fans (ie the black lines) you get a blobbed mess. Add too few and it looks like some sort of back alley magicians hypnodisk.
Regardless of how I approached it, I figured I wouldn't win. I never do anyway. _________________ You come for the modding but you stay for the Crap Forum. QUICK_EDIT
EW god NO
Is supposed to look something like this.
Made i quickly, maybe you can do better. I made a hemisphere with 18 sides ,chamfered the side edges, after that selected every second side edge and scaled it up from the center
Does not look like much even in RA2 scale tho so i'd suggest just place a dome there instead or try the hemisphere with less sides _________________ Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun ,Red Alert 2,Renegade, Command & Conquer 3,Tiberium and Tiberium Wars and Westwood related image & video archive

I think you missed a joke. The last image is deliberately made to look like an actual russian onion dome. Good work though.
The problem lies in pixels. As any line converges up to a single point, the renderer will not being able to create a readable image at the resolution required for detail, thus you get these weird blobs on top of the fan. I think this one is definitely a bust if no one likes any of the domes I made. I can release it as is, but I've come to understand why WW didn't include a fan. I've come to the conclusion that a solid piece would work better. Perhaps some sort of light like the original shp has.

The 360 degree animation of the HoN doesn't prove it's a fan - you can't see it actually spinning, if you look close enough. The low amount of frames creates that illusion. _________________
