The Krokodil has been described by many as a technological feat. This massive machine is said (at least by it's designers) to be the evolution of your standard LCAC. Utilizing two pairs of giant corkscrew drives instead of air cushions, the Krokodil is able to traverse land and sea effectively. It is also supposedly capable of crushing and grinding up anything smaller than itself. The corkscrew drives require a lot of power to function though. To supply them with the much needed power, a nuclear reactor is used to power the entire vessel. This lead to many people to question it's safety as the vessel is supposed to carry large numbers of men and the last thing they expect to happen is the vehicle to erupt into a nuclear explosion if destroyed. Nevertheless, it still went into service and is now the Soviet navy's means of amphibious transportation.
