Background Info
The 'Lynx' is the German iteration of the Phase Tank. During the design of the real Phase Tank (the original prototype was a jury-rigged APC), each nation submitted their own designs from national firms. The design characteristics were as follows:
British:
-Prototype light tank chassis
-Quad AA/AT missile launchers, oscillating base, auto-loader fed
-Multi-panel phasing system, weaker, but allows redundancy in case of damage
-40mm of armor max
French:
-Built off a 1930s tank design to reduce costs
-Enlarged turret held 47mm HV gun, dual AA/AT missile launchers on each side of the turret, loaded manually
-Single-panel phasing system, stronger, but likely to fail completely in the event of damage
-150mm of armor max
German:
-Built off a 1940s recon tank prototype, slightly enlarged
-Extremely mobile due to widened tracks and more powerful engine
-New turret design holds experimental 60mm KwK61 L/70 cannon
-Large multi-panel phasing system; combines strengths of French and British designs
-50mm of armor max
As the German design was in violation of the requirement that the vehicle had anti-aircraft/helicopter capabilities, it was disqualified. Before the Germans had time to submit a new design, the British design was chosen to be the general Allied "Phase Tank". (this was not the first time the Germans shirked missile capabilities in favor of high velocity guns) Regardless, in German service, the Lynx replaced the standard Phase Tank when it entered limited production in 1965.
Field Report
>Ambush Predator: The 'Lynx' is at its most lethal when it operates in ambush situations. Head on, the Lynx's gun and armor will not allow it to win slug-outs with larger tanks. Clever crews will wait until the enemy is already engaged, or moving in formation to strike.
>Watch the Skies: While the 'Lynx' gives the Germans a huge advantage in tank-busting, it leaves them dangerously dependent on Rocket Soldiers, Light Tanks and Mirage Fighters to keep the skies clear. Unlike the Phase Tank, the Lynx cannot fire on aircraft.
>Top-notch Scout: While vehicles like the Ranger can see further and move faster than the Lynx, they are not invisible while moving and vulnerable to most weapons. The Lynx is capable of getting in close to an enemy and perform essential operations such as harassing enemy ore trucks and exploiting gaps in base defenses.
