The Alliance is in essence a large Western European military junta that solely exists for the purpose of countering Soviet aggression. Major nations include the United Kingdom, France, Germany; minor nations include nearly the rest of Western Europe and any nation in central Europe not controlled by the Soviets.
History
The roots of the Alliance stretch back to the 1930s. As the Soviets rapidly gained influence in Eastern Europe, Britain and France created a military alliance that if either was attacked by communist forces, the other would come to their aid. The alliance soon expanded to include Germany: the Soviet-backed German Communist Party (KPD) won the presidential elections in 1932. This led to civil war- one that went immediately went in favor of the KPD. Soviet supplied tanks gave the communists an armor advantage that due to Versailles, German government forces couldn't match.
The Germans made a desperate appeal to French and British forces, only to find they were preparing an intervention already: neither could tolerate having a USSR-puppet state bordering France. After the conflict, realizing the need for a strong Germany, the French and British released Germany from most of the obligations of the Versailles Treaty and began, begrudgingly, offering military aid to the nation to stabilize it.
The Allies were the only major power opposing Soviet aggression in the Second Great War (as the events of RA1 will be called). Though initially pushed back to the German-French border, the Allies bounced back and captured Moscow- only to find that Soviet resolve was not broken by the loss of the capital or its great leader, Joseph Stalin.
The following months after the capture showed that even after 140 years, technology had not advanced enough to allow a foreign army to control Russia.
Specializations
- Maneuver Warfare: The Allies specialize in inexpensive and fast moving but lightly armed/armored vehicles, often giving them the advantage of choosing where the battlefield will be.
- Infantry Tactics: Allied infantry are extremely well trained and support oriented. While typically lightly armed, the capability of their infiltration and healing infantry to cause issues for the enemy is never to underestimated. Their elite soldier, a female commando codenamed "Tanya Adams" is any soldier's worst nightmare, and a demolitions expert to boot.
- Experimental Edge: The Allies have a number of advanced experimental weapons systems, ranging from lasers to EMP canisters, all of which can be used to devastating effect on the enemy.
