The Story Of The Forgotten:
Under A Tiberium Sun
"Never say 'Trust us' to a mutant..."- Kane
As Tiberium made itself prevalent across the earth, those unable to escape or afford the attention of GDI, were left to fend for themselves in what was slowly becoming a Tiberian World. As governments across the globe collapsed one by one, and entire countries were swallowed up by the poison of Tiberium, millions were exposed to the crystal's mutational effects.
It is a bitter sweet thing to survive the ravages of Tiberium, as the crystals invade the very DNA of Tiberium's unfortunate victims, causing horrific changes to the structure of the body. Visible symptoms of Tiberium poisoning meant entire communities were at best treated with suspicion by those free of mutation, at worst rejected and "purged".
GDI, overwhelmed by requests for aid, began to slowly abandon the mutant populations, instead focusing on maintaining society in blue zones of the world. Some turned to the Brotherhood, but soon found that asking Nod for help was like inviting a nest of scorpions into your midst. Horrific experiments, the likes not seen since the Great Wars of the 20th century, faced those desperate enough to listen to the Brotherhood's lies. The rest were simply caught up in the political and and military manoeuvres of the world powers, now engaged in all out war.
Neglected by GDI, rejected by society and abused by Nod, those affected with Tiberium based mutations realised that there was no place for them in the old world. Those mutants scattered across the planet needed to work together and forge their own destiny.
A Brave New World
"We are going to have to act, if we want to live in a different world" -Unknown Forgotten Leader.
After the first Tiberium war, the world saw the rapid organisation of mutants, especially in Europe and the former United States. This initiative was lead by a mysterious man called Tratos, who sought to bring all the tiberium infected people together. In the dire situation they faced, these people had little choice but to agree to form an allience. They became to be known as the Forgotten. Brought together by the tiberium infection, the Forgotten began co-operation by trading with each other, sharing tiberium research and secrets, and forming war bands to defend against hostilities, and to guarentee their own survival. In a world where food and water cannot be taken for granted, this often meant raiding and looting civilian populations.
While GDI symphatized with the Forgotten and provided support and supplies for some Forgotten factions, it was clear that GDI was unable to help all the tiberium infected people. With some Forgotten factions taking things into their own hands and pushing their attacks on civilian populations, GDI's stance with the Forgotten began to take a turn for the worse. Global Interpol officers began raiding mutant colonies and arresting prominent leaders that they considered hostile. As word of this got out, the already high tension between the two factions started rising. While publically GDI still claims one of their top priorities is to help the Forgotten, inside sources say there is a growing number of anti-mutant people in the GDI administration. The gap between those infected by and free of tiberium mutations is growing quickly. Skirmishes between GDI and Forgotten happen almost daily now.
Nod on the other hand almost immediately engaged in hostilities against The Forgotten. Brotherhood forces attacked many mutant settlements across the world, kidnapping entire populations for unknown experimentations. While GDI and Forgotten relations are uneasy, Nod and the Forgotten are in outright war. Forgotten warbands attack Nod compounds in an effort to liberate captured mutants, and to steal supplies and technology. Nod retaliations for these attacks have been swift and brutal. Life isn't worth much in the red zones...
The Tiberian Future
"In times of great trial, come acts of great strength" -Tratos
As the situation is escalating, and with the recent reappearance of Kane, the innocent can only watch as the world is plunged into war yet again. Ruthless and calculated "peacekeeping operations" by GDI officials and mindless attacks by the Brotherhood meant that militarisation within the Forgotten has become more important than ever.
Driven by the will to survive, The Forgotten continue to carve a name for themselves, becoming a banner for the weak, destitute and outcast to rally under. Swelled by literally thousands of individuals, mutant war parties have become a force to be reckoned with. Grudgingly, many GDI and Nod commanders have begun to gain a certain level of respect for their new rivals.
As the world is heading towards a bleak and unknown future, the Forgotten extend their hand to those abandoned by GDI and tormented by Nod. The fate of millions now hangs in the balance. The Forgotten step uneasily up the task of building a better world for the desperate and hopeless everywhere. For them, there is no good or bad, only survival.
