GDI Light Infantry
Subject description: Standardized Training Recruit
GDI Light Infantry
The Global Defense Initiative recruits members from all over the world, and as such, new training methods were developed to streamline the skill sets of incoming enlisted personnel. Armed with the rugged and reliable AR-70 Raptor Combat Rifle, the GDI Light Infantry stand as the first line of defense against the forces of the Brotherhood of Nod. _________________ You come for the modding but you stay for the Crap Forum. Other than the name, there is no reference to them ever carrying Miniguns, and a chain gun is not a minigun. _________________ You come for the modding but you stay for the Crap Forum. QUICK_EDIT
a Minigun is a powered gattling gun, and a chain gun does not have spinning barrels. Thus in Renegade, that chain gun is really a minigun used by the officer(?). Funnily enough, in TFD manual, the cameo for the minigunner is a dude using a minigun from a helicopter, as seen in one of the little videos ingame.
Call it a freudian slip, but I just like comically oversized weapons in C&C. The accurate sized weapons in WoT just feels wrong to me. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

Actually, didn't the original TD manual state that they ARE actually armed with light miniguns? You know, because it's THE FUTURE™! _________________ DUNK! QUICK_EDIT
Yeah, the chaingun in Renegade is a really a minigun, which, interestingly enough, WW made a reverse of this same slip up (which is what I was referring to) in the original manual, stating that Minigunners were:
Equipped with the GAU-3 “Eliminator” 5.56mm chaingun, this troop is the key player in the GDI forces.
(Nod actually carries and M-16. Seriously, WTF.)
The GAU-3 isn't a real gun, but the image that is shown is that of a Calico M950, which is an interesting weapon in its own right.
A chain gun is a gun whose reloading mechanism that uses an external source of power, rather than the recoil of the gas pressure released by the powder of the cartridge, to reload the weapon. Examples of chain guns are the M242 Bushmaster Chaingun which was installed on the Bradley IFV for a long time. (also interestingly, the term "Chain Gun" is trademarked.)
Moral of the story,
WW had no idea what the hell they were talking about when it came to weapon systems _________________ You come for the modding but you stay for the Crap Forum. QUICK_EDIT
Its a model that was rigged and rendered. The Nod Light Infantry is done too, I just haven't made a .gif of it yet.
On a side note, I will probably darken up the infantry pallet because I too feel that it will be too bright, even though the colorscheme between the GDI vxls and GDI shps is exactly the same. _________________ You come for the modding but you stay for the Crap Forum. QUICK_EDIT
No standing-while-firing poses please. It's far too unrealistic when battalions of infantry just stand there and only go prone for a short period when hit. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
