While the car bombs are used to pick off strategic targets, demo trucks were designed to create massive destruction in enemy bases. The initial explosion created by the demo truck bomb is even larger than that of the car bomb, but the real threat is the tiberium gas that is created from the explosion. This gas can easily be avoided by units, but against bases it can create mass destruction. The demo trucks have been made as lightly armored as possible to increase their speed. The tiberium bombs they carry need to be manually armed, which means if the demo truck gets destroyed before it has time to self-destruct, no tiberium gas will be released, and the resulting explosion will be smaller.
