The Kautine Colour Scheme
Subject description: Well, this is Mars, right?
I've been thinking. Yes, I know, Radically different to usual.
Basically, the main problem people seem to be having with these Kautine Kommunists is the Kolour scheme, yes the joke is intended, and darkness of the structures, as far as I can tell.
From a realism stand point, blue isn't the best camouflage on a planet which is proverbially red.
What I'm thinking is that before the building colour scheme becomes too entrenched, a move to any other colour might be possible.
Red, or orange, or brown, or even dull green, might be a better choice, simply from a realism standpoint.
Then there is the visual appeal. The blue does look nice, and if Dominance was set on any other (non-red) planet, then it'd be perfect. But it doesn't entirely look
right. I don't know exactly how to articulate it, but the blue is a harsh opposite to the oranges and browns of the terrain. The outcome is, while not unpleasant, not brilliant.
If you're trying for a less RA2ish feel for the Communist side, then the building style goes a long way to achieving that. The colours make the side stand out, but maybe just a little too much?
BTW, MT, might it be a good idea in future to create an ideas/suggestions/comments thread? QUICK_EDIT
But that bluish thing might just be the effect of terraforming the planet, storywise of course. But, if you think about it, it does look weird. Orange might be a good choice. Red seems RA-ish, especially for a commie side. QUICK_EDIT
Well, in the end, it's MT's decision, all I can say is that I hope he makes the right choice or what seems best to him. :/ _________________ Please, I DON'T read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
The Mars theater, when finished, will have bases placed on the terraforming grass-like lifeform, which is a mix of blue and green, or on plain concrete (concrete, despite being low tech, is still the cheapest way to cover other ground). This will hopefully solve the problems of the buildings contrasting too much, etc.
BTW, if this doesn't help at all though, the probable change will be in the Kautine palette, and not SHPs. Therefore there does not have to be worry of the colour scheme becoming 'too entrenched' QUICK_EDIT
