Is UaW worth getting?
I need a new game to tide me over untill Kane's Wrath. I have not played EaW, but I want to know if UaW is worth getting, preferably without a mountain full of bullshit saying its 'OMG TEH LEET' because Petro is mostly ex-Westwood.
Whats the truth? Is it worth getting ot should I just go snatch up World In Conflict and smash capitalism? _________________ PPM's Reichstrollfuherer, 236th Trollenparties brigade. QUICK_EDIT
Well,If you like cartony/anime style of game play combined with strategy, then UaW is good, but compared to world in conflict...

I think it really depends on what kind of gameplay you want. Personally, I only played the demo so far, and I found it to be quite good, although not as awesome as I had hoped.
But in comparison, I had really looked forward to WIC, and I found the WIC demo boring me to death, compared to that I found UAWs demo quite entertaining, although a bit short. If the UAW demo had contained any skirmish support, I would probably still be playing it.
If you want to buy the game just as a gap-filler until KW arrives, then I would say yeah, it's definitely good enough for that purpose. It's not that UAW is 'TEH UBER-LEET', but WIC is just much less fun, maybe it looks better, but gameplay is just too simple and repetitive for me.
And on a side-note, some of the annoyances of UAW like the too-close camera and the mediocre responding/pathfinding of some units get adressed in the next patch, so by the time the game is out here in europe, it will have improved further. QUICK_EDIT

I wanted to buy it, but I didn't. There are some things I don't like. It has a buildcap, the pathfinding is sometimes horrible (the AI of your units is much too agressive), and it doesn't have a patrol function (not really nessisary, but quite usefull). You must choose it yourself, but that is what I think of the game. I will wait for Kane's Wrath instead QUICK_EDIT
Universe at War is a blast of fun, I got into the beta and I recommend anyone to play it. Really going to the roots of fun gameplay (except of course the Varient rushes which have been overpowered and rightly hit with the nerfstick in the latest patch).
I think they fixed the pathfinding in the latest patch. *Sega rushed em to release it before the full patch was released* _________________

Reaperrr here just hit the top of the nail. I myself had high hopes for WIC, but the demo really let me down with the repeative and boring gameplay. The graphics were top notch, yeah, but the "advanced and varying" gameplay is actually just too boring.
I don't know about UAW, but judging from in-game videos, it seems fun, maybe a bit too imaginative, but fun. Also, I downloaded and listened the UAW OST pack, and some of the soundtracks sounded awesome. I even plan to extract few and insert them to a TS mod _________________
Well,If you can handle the screwed and chopped up camera movment and functions, give it a try.
Just don't expect super l337 DX10 qualities. _________________
It's also all depending on mcromanagement. If you like fast action, world in conflict would probably be better.Thing is,It's kinad to fast at times.
Multiplayer,I haven't yet played for UaW but I love world in conflicts multiplayer style.Late Join in RTS style can break down any good general's plan.
