Call Of Duty:Modern Combat Thread
Just a warning, dont start any political shit or bashing of religions here, PPM Politicians. That goes for both sides, however, Nazi bashing is totally OK.
Anyway childrens. Call of Duty IV's official trailer was released recently, and it appears we're going to the modern era. No more Nazis, now it seems to be in Asia, most likely based on the ongoing Iraq war, Afghanistan, and other likely things. What do you guys think about it? Going to pick up the next COD? or avoid it for fear of 'Generals:First Person Shooter' or Battlefield 2:Modern Combat syndrome? _________________ PPM's Reichstrollfuherer, 236th Trollenparties brigade. Yeah...I'm not happy about this either. Personally, they're making a big mistake with this. It should not be modern, but instead, a Pacific theatre of WWII. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
yah,i think they are taking it a lil to far, they missed alot of other historical events....
hopefuly it wont be like BF,not that BF isnt good, its jsut that call of duties single player rep will go down to hell..... _________________ QUICK_EDIT

The modern combat theme has been ground into the dirt. Dozens and dozens of shitty shooters have tried, and failed. A few have suceeded in making genuinely goods games, but there are still too goddamned many of them. CoD should NOT be another one of those. Why can't anyone make a game about the Korean War? From what I've been able to glean from military history textbooks and the few tidbits of information my grandfather has given me (he spent eight months in a Chinese prison camp, and so isn't very forthcoming with war stories), it was pretty intense, and would probably make a damn good game. _________________ This mod is dead!
other then those books i gues, there is very little informations on americas part on that war, maknig it difficult for the historical event that would take part in the game, but that doesnt mean they should stop on south koreas side.if any of you watched a movie called "Brotherhood Of War",you'll see what i mean.
and they totally skipped the vietnam war and the coldwar both of which MANY american lives were taken(not that i really care,im canadian lololol im jk)
damn, would have been sick to see them fight the USSR.... _________________ QUICK_EDIT

Im the only one here who thinks an Axis version of CoD would be, to say the least, a change of pace? I mean, there are NO FPSes where the point of view is from a Wehrmacht soldier, or an Imperial Japanese Army soldier, that'd be very interesting. _________________ PPM's Reichstrollfuherer, 236th Trollenparties brigade. That would be amazing. I can play as the Germans/Italians/Japanese/any number of Axis minor nations in WW2 strategy games, why not in WW2 FPS's? _________________ This mod is dead!
Someone should make an original game where you can fight as diffrent countries in the world today but not just against the ztyping WAR OF TERROR THAT JUST WON END BEACUSE EVERYONES MAKING GAMES ABOUT IT!
Like, USA vs Germany or Sweden vs Great Britain
And you should be able to fight in modern cities and stuff and more innovative enviroments than deserts in iraq and swamps in china... _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

That would require actual creativity (gasp!), and there are precious few creative people making games anymore. The few truly innovative people left in the industry are either all busy on projects at the moment or busy running their own companies and ignoring game design altogether. _________________ This mod is dead!
