Getting your map spotlighted!
Subject description: The guide for the success.
In order to motivate users to send high quality maps, PPM spotlights the best maps by posting a news about them and linking them in the left menu of our site. The result is that spotlighted maps get more hits and attention than normal maps.
If you want to be a successful mapper and see your maps getting spotlighted, the first step is to finding out characteristics of good maps. Read our intro post for the Mapping Discussion, Hexetic's article on How to Make Maps The Don't Suck. Also, check the world builder manual and the readme that comes with it.
Also, avoid maps with simetry. Terrain, tiberium, player starting location, tech building simetry and others only show your lack of creativity and results in a boring and predictable maps that will never be spotlighted.
So, here's the basic prerequisites of spotlight candidate maps:
-> It must work and have no map errors.
-> Must be very detailed and must not be symetric. Use of lighting effects is recommended.
-> The map must include a minimap preview (or a big previw), screenshots and a proper description.
-> It must have positive comments from experienced mappers.
-> AI must work well.
Good luck and let's hope to see a lot of cool spotlighted maps being posted here! QUICK_EDIT
