Hey guys. throughout my time browsing tibsun's section of this site and many years of downloading mods, I've seen a lot of good buildings and some astonishing SHPs. do modmakers actually draw pixel by pixel in shp builder and have some master skills in pixelart or do they make some kind of 3d model and just export it to shp to make these kind of buildings?

if they do use converted 3d models, which software do they use to make these buildings? where do they get the inspiration?

some people still do copy/paste buildings but these days most assets are made by 3d artists in the community including myself.

we have both 3ds max users and blender users in the community, and if you know how to use that software we have some prefab
scenes publicly available that handle all of the lighting and compositing stuff. shp builder actually doesnt see that much use these
days, as most of us instead use LKO's image shaper to handle the frame compilation.

for inspiration... we just make whatever we feel like lol; or whatever the commissioner wants us to make

Blender is free and decently easy to learn the basics. DonutArnold made a template to render objects in many different C&C views, that helps with getting started.

Anything can be your inspiration. Although we do a lot of the same stuff being remade every few years, so that shows what a lot of inspiration comes from.
