Download XCC Mixer.

Now, open your XCC Mixer. Once inside, go to your Red Alert 2 directory.

At the directory, you'll find the huge ra2.mix. Inside ra2.mix, go to local.mix.

Then, extract all ini files there, including the rules.ini Wink.

For YR, the technic is similar, but the YR ini files are located at ra2md.mix -> localmd.mix.

YAY Thanx too, Banshee, actually, Dcoder, there is only a rulesmd.ini in the expand01, I had tried editing it but it did not work, now that I have found rules ini in RA2mix/localmix, I see its the one to work w\ ...

rules.ini is for RA2, rulesmd.ini is for YR. Extract those files to your game directory, then edit them and leave them there.

Yea, Thanx Dcoder, I didnt know but I had started wondering if the rulesmd was for the other game, yuris revenge, since its right under RA2 in the game selection menu ..

I also want to add, the game seems pretty sensative to some editing in the repair and refit section, as well possibly as the income and production, I didn't pinpoint the problem, I just noticed that after defaulting some of those values, the game stopped crashing ..

I have edited a great deal of other things, adding immunity, changing costs, weapon damages etc and the game worx fine, it just seemt somewhere in those areas I mentioned, that caused problems...

Something else worth mentioning, as you get to erm, mission 4 I think, if you are playing GDI and have immuned your tanks, this can cause a problem, since the enemy side has those pesky spider thingies that attach to your tanks... W\ immunity, they wont damage it, but the only way to get them off, is to put the vehicle into the repair depot, but it wont get on it, because it's not damaged ..

So then, you are stuck w\ those things on your tanks and the game counts them as "live enemies" and you wont be able to complete the mission, so ... I'm not sure if those things get on other vehicles or if its just tanks ....

Immunity? You mean like the Iron Curtain? That only lasts for 45 game seconds about.

huhnuh, I meant, total immunity, it lasts throughout your gameplay..

None of the spider things (terror drones) had a chance to get to my vehicles this time, I did go into rules and change some of their values, not sure how it may have affected them but I may be safe from them for now, as I successfully completed that mission..

I couldnt be sure if its part of the game or a glitch, but I noticed in the mission w\ the beacon in the center of town (not the one in the snowy climate), that you have x amount of time to destroy using Tanya, there were a few guys that are appearing as enemies on radar and you can't shoot to eliminate them, they kept following Tanya and my other infantry, constantly shooting them, they arent targetable but your units shoot at them automatically to no avail.... They barricade themselves in and appear to be immune...

I thought I was gonna have to restart but I managed to get my tanks to finally run them over ...

Updating:::
I got to the last mission and I brought my prism tanks w\ in VERY close range to the terror drones and they didn't attack the prism tanks, atleast, so, I lowered the speed of the terror drones, their damage etc, so I am assuming this all had an effect on them ..

I also LOVE the prism tanks, prism towers, lightning storm etc ..

I do have a question, is there any way to extract images from w\ in the game files, into a format w\ good quality ?  I know XCC has a copy as function but I dont know where its copying the files to ..

Some of the images are pcx, some shp .. Thanx .

When you are viewing Mixer, you'll see two division bars seperating viewer and menu. By default, they're smushed together. Drag the right bar to the right, and a new menu will show up from within. This is where copied files go. It's just like the menu on the left, so you can change the folder. Ask for a screenie over PMing if you're still confused.

Despite following the instructions to the letter, I was unable to find ai.ini or rules.ini in localmd.mix. When I attempted to extract localmd.mix, it only produced a copy and nothing else. I'm really struggling with the AI's difficulty level, making the game unplayable for me, even on easy. I would greatly appreciate any help!

Yuri's Revenge use aimd.ini and rulesmd.ini files which are inside the ra2md.mix > localmd.mix. The original Red Alert 2 uses ai.ini and rules.ini files within the ra2.mix > local.mix files.

Make sure your looking for the correct files for the correct game version.
