Japanese Fortifications
Now that all the Japanese defences are complete they are fortifying their position in preparation to strike out & take their place as one of D-day's main sides.
Edit: those defenses and the game general feel is good, supurb work Mig_eater ! Last edited by Bu7loos on Fri Nov 14, 2014 4:05 pm; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT

Atm I'm using infantry convered from other games. They will be replaced with custom made ones in the future, I've already made a few in 3DS but I havent got round to animating them yet _________________
One assumes that the direction of the sun means that the shadow is not very visible from that facing direction of the gun.
Looking at the tanks, trees and other structures, which all have good shadows. It's clear that the bunker and that big gun are missing proper shadows which makes them stand out.
Before you talk, apply some realism to your thinking. QUICK_EDIT
Look at the angle of those shadows. Orac's not wrong. You can see a short shadow from the barrel and when it rotates round I'm sure you'll see more of it. QUICK_EDIT

Quick question - will you implement vehicle dug-ins? A lot of Japanese fortifications have been various pieces of armor (tanks) that were dug in, because well... Japanese tanks.
This includes some of the Amphibian tanks, which were deemed useless, since the war was mainly defensive for the Japanese, and just like Soviets, they soon find out that amphibious capacity is something viable only for offense. _________________ DUNK! QUICK_EDIT

Sudden Strike +3
Also, how does constructing the positions for towed artillery work? Are they deployed from a vehicle towing the respective gun? They all look like they would have a mobile version, somehow. _________________

In the past all defences were mobile & could be redeployed. However it didn't really add much to the game play, you also can't make articulated vehicle so the guns looked rather ridged when being towed. The vehicles are often bigger then the guns they were towing, so when deployed they got in the way. So the ability to tow around defences was removed & they became static.
There is an exception tho, the Italians are the only side that has mobile defences in D-day. Instead of using trucks to tow their guns they mounted them onto the trucks creating highly mobile weapons platforms. _________________
