shp builder the most annoying "NOT RESPONDING"
Subject description: Trying to import 200 frames to shp builder
Hello everybody my huge reporting about the maaany frames IN SHP BUILDER!!!
Note:before telling me test it on another version I tested in 3.36 and 3.38 beta 14
MY LIFE:
1-done rendering and all other things
2-opened the shp builder
3-selected FILE-IMPORT-image to shp
4-"BROWSE"
5-selected the correct bmp
6-buildings-temperate then ok
7-10 sec then AAA NOT RESPONDING!!!!!!!!!
8-I set the priority to real time the tried again A VERY BAD NOT RESPONDING THAT MAKE RESTARTING COMPUTER "didn't work again"
9-i plugged off the power then power on and it was massively slow "computer"
HOW THE HELL CAN I FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! QUICK_EDIT
How big are the bmp files (xy pixel size)?
Are you sure all have the same width/height?
Can you upload the frames so we can test it too? (you have to register here to be able to upload files)
Are you using the "Delta E CIE 2000" color conversion method? If yes, this is very slow since it has to do a lot of calculations to get the best result. And for 200 frames 7-10 seconds are nothing. I would give it at least 5 minutes to finish the job, especially when you have bigger images to import (e.g. 255x255).
Have you tried to convert only 10 frames to see if this works and how long it takes?
7-10 seconds are quite short for a big conversion job. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings

Whatever you'll do, it'll be slow. More cores doesn't help on that.
From what I'd guess the importing is a linear operation and doesn't get benefits from multi-threading. Except that you can have spare cores to do other stuff meanwhile. _________________ "If you didn't get angry and mad and frustrated, that means you don't care about the end result, and are doing something wrong." - Greg Kroah-Hartman

I amn't here for making problems QUICK_EDIT
We're sorry, the building you are trying to convert is too horrible to support SHP Builder
Please give up and try again after a decade of 3D modeling practice
(SHP builder is horrible and slow but that's all there is so get used to it) _________________ Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun ,Red Alert 2,Renegade, Command & Conquer 3,Tiberium and Tiberium Wars and Westwood related image & video archive

Don't forget to state who are you otherwise i'll ignore the invite QUICK_EDIT
While SHP builder may be slow, I use it all the time and the sooner you get used to it not responding, the better. Just because SHP builder is "not responding" doesn't mean the program isn't doing it's job, it just means you're too impatient. It's been this way forever. _________________ "Don't beg for things; Do it yourself or you'll never get anything." QUICK_EDIT
Yup. Banshee said it himself. The codes are crappy and aren't optimised. It's open-source though, so anybody with a lot of free time are more than welcomed to fix the shitsniz out of it. _________________
