"Alpha" Class Diesel sub
The "Alpha" class diesel-electric submarine serves as the bulk of the Soviet navy. It is considered to be lightweight for a submarine, and thus is able to travel fairly quickly in the seas. It is armed with standard Type 53 torpedoes, making it a threat for all Allied commanders. Construction of the "Alpha" class is more simple, and thus can be produced at a far lower price than the newer "Oscar II" class submarines.
